Hello, I'm Rohi. Welcome to Arohivelly kitchen.
Why i started Arohivelly kitchen
ArohiVelly Kitchen started with a simple thought: we all eat every day, but do we really understand the way we eat? In our busy lives, we often combine different foods without thinking much about how they go together, how they are prepared, or whether our food choices change with the seasons. Sometimes, we simply eat whatever is available, convenient, or familiar. I wanted to create a space where we can pause and look at our everyday food with a little more awareness.
My interest in this subject is also deeply personal. My own health journey began around the time of my pregnancies. After my second pregnancy, I continued to experience thyroid-related concerns and was on thyroid medication for many years. During this journey, I became more curious about my food, digestion, daily habits, and overall well-being.
At one point, I approached an Ayurvedic doctor regarding my thyroid-related concerns. During my consultation, the doctor spoke to me about food combinations, digestion, and the importance of paying attention to the way we eat. This was one of the moments that really changed the way I looked at food. It made me think: What if I learn more about this? What exactly are the traditional principles behind food combinations? Why do we eat certain foods together? Why do some foods belong to particular seasons? And how can we bring this understanding into our everyday meals?
That curiosity stayed with me. I started reading more and more books about Ayurveda, traditional Indian food practices, nutrition, food, history, and spiritual wisdom. The more I read, the more questions I had—and the more I wanted to understand. This was not about finding complicated diets or following strict rules. I became interested in something much more basic: understanding our everyday food. How we choose our ingredients, how we prepare them, how we combine different foods, how we eat according to the seasons, and how we can bring more awareness into our regular meals.

That journey eventually inspired me to start ArohiVelly Kitchen. Today, I am also pursuing a Certified Course in Ayurvedic Dietetics and Nutrition (CCADN). I am still learning, and I believe in being transparent about where I am in my journey. I am not presenting myself as a certified Ayurvedic dietitian or nutritionist before completing my course. What I want to share here is what I am learning and discovering along the way.
My focus is not to give complicated diet plans or strict rules, but to help you understand everyday food through practical recipes, traditional food wisdom, seasonal eating, thoughtful food combinations, cooking methods, and mindful eating. You may find familiar foods here, traditional Indian ingredients, modern adaptations, vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, milk-based recipes, and everyday meals. The idea is not to make food restrictive. It is to make us more aware of what we eat, how we combine it, how we prepare it, and when we eat it. I believe that food can be simple, enjoyable, and meaningful at the same time.
ArohiVelly Kitchen is my little space to share this journey with you—what I learn, what I read, what I explore, and the recipes and food ideas that grow from that journey. This is only the beginning. As I continue my studies and learning, I will also share more about my personal experiences, traditional food practices, seasonal eating, food combinations, and the lessons that continue to shape the way I understand food.
My new book is out. Enjoy every meal!
Come along with me on this journey—to understand our food a little better, cook with more awareness, and enjoy every meal with greater appreciation.
